It’s December which means it’s time once more to tackle the My Life in Books meme. I say “tackle” but it’s actually very easy. I’ve been doing this meme each year since 2019 with only a few variations in the prompts. I’m using the same ones as last year, using the titles of books I read in 2023 and trying not to repeat any titles. I’m including links to those I’ve reviewed on the blog.

In high school I was: The Snow Hare  (Paula Lichtarowicz)
People might be surprised by: Strange Weather in Tokyo (Hiromi Kawakami)
I will never be: The Unknown Terrorist (Richard Flanagan)
My fantasy Job is: The Eighth Detective  (Alexi Pavesi)
At the end of a long day I need: (To) Drift (Caryl Lewis)
I hate being: My Turn To Make the Tea (Monica Dickens)
I wish I had: (The) Newspaper of Claremont Street (Elizabeth Jolley)
My family reunions are: How to Kill Your Family (Bella Mackie)
At a party you’d find me with Nora  (Nuala O’Connor)
I’ve never been to Revolutionary Road (Richard Yates)
A happy day includes: The Prophet Song (Paul Lynch)
Motto I live by: Trust (Hernan Diaz)
On my bucket list is: The Electric Hotel (Dominic Smith)
In my next life, I want to have: Days at the Moriaski Bookshop (Satoshi Yagisawa)

Well this was just as much fun as in previous years.
Take a look at how Annabel, Susan and Cathy answered the questions. And then maybe have a go yourself?

  1. […] literary musings. I’ve seen this meme around, lately over at Cathy’s 746 Books, or at Bookertalk. It looks like fun, but it’s actually more difficult than it seems when you limit yourself to […]

  2. Days at the Moriaski Bookshop has been on my list! It looks excellent.

    1. The author does a fabulous job of creating the atmosphere of a second hand book shop

  3. A great list! I seem to remember I used the same book as you for family reunions last year. What does that say about us? Here’s mine: https://margaret21.com/2024/01/01/my-year-in-2023-a-work-of-fiction/

    1. I’d better not let my family see my post!

  4. I saw this post this morning and enjoyed it. You inspired me to again try to do this meme on my blog. In the past I could not come up with good titles to complete it, but this time it worked out for me.

    1. it does take a little jiggling around to find suitable titles but it’s fun

  5. Pleased to hear you’ll never be a terrorist but glad I’m not part of your family!

  6. How to Kill Your Family, hah, what a dark response! And yes, when there’s strange weather in Tokyo I too would like to shelter in the Moriaski Bookshop… Witty choices, much as I’d expect from you!
