About BookerTalk

What do you need to know about me? 1. I'm from Wales which is one of the countries in the UK and must never be confused with England. 2. My life has always revolved around the written and spoken word. I worked as a journalist for nine years then in international corporate communications 3. My tastes in books are eclectic. I love realism and hate science fiction and science fantasy. 4. I am trying to broaden my reading horizons geographically by reading more books in translation

  1. I would love to read the long list but … nope, it’s not going to happen. But I’m very curious about which books make it. Do we have any guesses? Did Mantell’s Bring up the Bodies get published in time to make it?

  2. Even if I gave up working and got someone else to do all the housework i am not sure I have the stamina for 8 hours or so of reading over that period of time. It doesn’t feel much like pleasure…….

  3. Well, at least there’s a decent amount of time to try and read the long list. Who am I kidding! I say I’m going to do it every year and never get anywhere near completion. There was one year, however, when a friend of mine was chosen to shadow the judges and asked to read nineteen books in twenty-one days and did it! Now that took stamina.
